HUBUNGAN MOTIVASI PERAWAT DENGAN KEPATUHAN MELAKUKAN CUCI TANGAN DI RSUD PANEMBAHAN SENOPATI BANTUL

Background: The prevalence of Healthcare Associated Infection (HAIs) in hospitals continues to increase every year, reaching 9% or 1.40 million inpatients. Nurses have very big influence on the occurrence of HAIs, because nurses have the most direct interactions with patients. Efforts that can be made to prevent infection are to increase the motivation and compliance of nurses to wash their hands.
Research purposes: The aim of this research is Describe the relationship between nurses' motivation and compliance with hand washing at Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital.
Research methods: This research is an analytic description research by cross sectional design. The population in this study are nurses at Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital in the ICU, HCU, Bakung and Alamanda 3 rooms totaling 60 nurses. The sample in this study amounted to 60 respondents drawn by total sampling technique. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using Kendall-tau statistical tests.
Research result: Respondents who have good motivation in washing hands are mostly obedient in washing their hands, amounting to 38 respondents (63.3%), while respondents who have moderate motivation or have low level of compliance are 5 respondents (8.3%). There is a relationship between nurses’ motivation and their compliance in washing hands at Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital with a p value of 0.024 (p <0.05).
Conclusion: There is a relationship between of nurses’ motivation with their compliance in washing hands at Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital.
